Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Commissary & Wholesale Division, the Manufacturing/Plant Manager is responsible for the entire plant operations with accountability for all functions that support the manufacturing facility including production, equipment, maintenance and sanitation. This position will take ownership for ensuring quality and safety standards are being met across the entire plant. The Manufacturing/Plant Manager will serve in a leadership capacity with full accountability for production, budget and cost targets, process improvement and manufacturing optimization.
The primary day-to-day responsibility involves directing and managing all areas of manufacturing and improving upon SOPs and KPIs. Additional responsibilities include ensuring plant achieves and maintains all food safety requirements (SQF) and assuming an effective leadership of the HACCP team.
Primary Responsibilities:

MUST be comfortable LEADING change and implementing new systems
Manage business to ensure profitability targets and make sure all quality standards are met
Proactively monitor, maintain and repair all production equipment and fixed assets including buildings, grounds and storage facilities
Stay current with latest production management and industry best practices to help continually evolve our products and business
Maintain a clean, effective, efficient, orderly and safe plant
Direct plant policies and procedures and manage plant safety procedures and reporting
Manage and maintain sufficient raw materials and finished goods inventory to ensure uninterrupted service to customers
Verify and/or perform inventory counts and ensure proper rotation of raw materials
Review production orders and/or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan production operations (batching, mixing, cooking and packaging processes) and establish priorities and sequences for manufacturing products to minimize waste and labor costs
Produce and manage the execution of the production schedule
Follow and adhere to operating budget
Create and develop new methods, operational procedures and systems in production management to improve efficiency and performance
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to maximize human capital, realize cost savings, reduce material waste, and eliminate down time
Create a work culture that yields a highly disciplined workforce by nurturing and leading associates
Interview, hire and train new associates; plan, assign and direct work; appraise performance
Develop succession plans to ensure continuity of operations in the face of unforeseen turnover
Lead the safety efforts of the plant to achieve and maintain a zero lost-time accident record
Maintain adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, quality specifications, safety standards and sanitation practices
Participate as a leader of the HACCP team
Monitor plant operations and initiate corrective actions and ensure follow up is conducted
Requirements:
Minimum of three years of experience in a food manufacturing environment leading a team of 40+ associates
Experience leading a USDA FSIS & FDA plant
Experience working in an SQF-certified facility
Experience with purchasing, production planning, quality, project management, continuous improvement, maintenance, food processing and food safety practices
Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
Firm understanding of technical issues related to manufacturing
Demonstrated flexibility with plans or production needs change and ability to respond accordingly
Willingness to make decisions and take action in a changing environment
Passion for working hands-on with colleagues on the production floor
Ability to recruit, lead, coach and develop associates by operating with a firm but fair practice, holding individuals accountable to their responsibilities
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with all levels of staff, from hourly to executive management, as well as with customer and vendor contacts
Ability to drive change with a positive attitude
Ability to work flexible hours including holidays and weekends
