Job Summary
Under the immediate supervision of Clinical Coordinator, Surgery, and the clinical guidance of a registered nurse and surgical technologist, prepares the surgical suite and patient for surgery and assists the team during the procedure.
Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications
Registration/Certification/Licensure: CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) within three (3) months of hire
Experience: No specific experience is required.
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED). Currently a second year 2nd semester student in the Surgical Technology Program.
Job Knowledge & Skills
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
- Requires a thorough knowledge of sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments and supplies utilized in order to prepare operating suite/treatment room for surgery and assist medical team throughout procedure under the leadership of an RN.
- Requires basic working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.
