Controller
Luxury Lease Partners has an exciting opportunity for a Controller of whom will have primary responsibility for all aspects of the accounting department including, deal funding & treasury, lease receivables, accounts payable and all taxes associated with leased vehicles including sales, property /motor vehicle and franchise tax. This position will also serve as a liaison and consultant with the credit and collections team to assist in the structuring and funding of new leases.
Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting
- Assist in developing and overseeing the month-end closing process for the efficient timely release of financial statements,
- Assist in developing a fully functioning accounts payable process,
- Perform selected account reconciliations on daily, weekly or monthly basis based on account complexity,
- Reconcile intra/inter-company accounts monthly,
- Make month-end journal entries as deemed appropriate,
- Manage the recording and depreciation of fixed assets,
- Assist in the development and execution of a strong internal control structure appropriate for a smaller company with limited ability personnel utilizing compensating controls, and
- Assist in the development of the annual financial budget
Sales & Other Taxes
- Manage the schedule of timing and preparation of various returns and registrations to ensure all are filed on a timely basis,
- Liaise with the external tax preparer in connection with preparation and filing of periodic tax returns,
- Monitor changes in tax rates and coordinate new rates and timing with Credit & Operations,
- Perform daily cash reconciliations of tax related activity,
- Investigate and resolve any and all issues associated with tax collected in the appropriate taxing jurisdictions and resolve as appropriate,
- Coordinate with states regarding the calculation and payment of sales, property, motor vehicle, and franchise taxes,
- Coordinate with operations to ensure property taxes are appropriately allocated to lessees,
- Reconcile taxes paid with taxes collected from lessee, and
- Process tax and DMV refunds to customers
Treasury
- Manage daily funding requirements for new deals and assist in the submission of weekly sweeps to a warehouse credit facility,
- Setup templates for dealers and create wire transfers for deal funding on a timely basis,
- Verify wire instructions for clients, make changes when needed and verify the information in the bank matches the information received from the lessees and/or dealer
- Monitor fundings received from our lenders and compare actual receipts to deal books and update amortization schedules, and
- Verify wire instructions for outgoing payment requests
Operations
- Coordinate with credit and operations in the structuring of deals to ensure deal requirements have been completed and funding is performed pursuant to expectations, and
- Monitor bank activity and advise operations on a timely basis of time critical receipts
Qualifications
The candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university and 5-7 years of related accounting experience. Experience in:
- Finance and bank support required,
- Automotive retail industry preferred, and
- Public accounting a plus
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and particularly ASC 842,
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel, including extensive experience with complex functions and pivot tables a must,
- Working knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise is critical,
- Strong knowledge of the month-end closing process is a must,
- Exhibit an understanding of the necessary requirements for a strong internal control structure within a small company and the ability to construct compensating controls,
- Detail oriented, with the ability to critically review transactions and G/L postings for propriety,
- Ability to work across functional lines and work with local and remote teams,
- Ability to navigate uncertainty and utilize prudent judgement in decision-making,
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and
- Strong leadership with the ability to cooperatively work with others during times of approaching deadlines
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
