Description
The position of Interventionist is primarily one of support for students. Interventionists may be either academic or behavioral or a combination of both and services must be rendered in English or French as directed by the Director of RtI and the Director of Special Education .
Role and Responsibilities
The duties of interventionist may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:
Instruction
- Providing instructional support to students and teachers
- Assessing student progress, tracking the data, drafting progress reports
- Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many forms
- Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives
- Using either French or English when working with students as directed by administrators
- Working non-traditional school hours if requested
- Supporting the English Language Arts teachers in benchmark assessments (DIBELS, DSC, high-stakes testing, etc)
- Serving as Team Leader if requested
Community-Based Learning Initiatives
- Working with community leaders to provide unique, authentic learning experiences for students
- Assisting in the design of curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of students
The interventionist(s) will be called upon to assist in all areas of school life if needed as requested by the Chief Academic Officer.
Requirements
Expectations, Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics
- Experience in an elementary, middle, or secondary school setting
- Written and oral proficiency in French and English
- Strong commitment to meeting the needs of diverse learners
- Ability to work collaboratively with a corps of international teachers
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple caseloads of students
- Proven record of successful classroom experience
- Ability to maintain confidential files and information
- Flexibility and a team-spirit work ethic
- Well developed interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an urban school setting
- Knowledge of the American system of education as well as the French system of education
- Three or more years experience in math intervention
- Community engagement experience
