Position Summary: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with working familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles related to SaaS revenue recognition, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced, start-up environment. Experience in, or exposure to, a technology and professional services organization a big plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of SaaS revenue in compliance with ASC 606.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for all revenue and CoGS-related transactions.
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions.
- Participate in supporting project billing & administration.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, focusing on revenue recognition.
- Reconcile deferred revenue and other revenue-related accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to revenue recognition.
- Support audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures to enhance finance & accounting function.
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of accounting experience, with a focus on SaaS revenue recognition.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Familiarity with professional services organization a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
