What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Summer Behavior Coach position at Lynchburg City Schools?

The Summer Behavior Coach will collaborate with administration and staff members in effecting positive behavior change in students by making weekly classroom observations, developing interventions, utilizing/providing PBIS and division resources, providing pre-camp training and weekly feedback directly with teaching staff based on observations, connecting the school/home/community in designing positive behavior support plans and working with staff to track specific student behavioral data.
- Demonstrating a strong foundation in positive behavior supports
- Designs and implements multi-faceted behavior interventions based on data including positive behavior support plans for identified students
- Communicates (written and verbally) effectively with staff, parents, and students
- Understands and works with various support systems available in the school and community
- Understands and follows district policies and guidelines when dealing with violations of the student code of conduct
- Serves as a positive role model for students and helps them learn how to self-monitor behavior

- Degree or currently enrolled in Counseling, Social Work or Psychology program
- Virginia Teaching license, preferred
- Experience working in a school environment
- Experience training education professionals
- CPR and First Aid instructed (see TalentEd)
- Ability to conduct telephone-based or in-person interviews, data collection, and data entry
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, empathy, and relationship building

The elementary behavior coach will create a work schedule to travel between the 4 elementary sites to provide teacher and student support based on identified needs.
