Position: Middle/Upper School English Teacher
Expected Commitment: Up to 195 days in a scholastic year; 7:25 AM to 4:00 PM normally
Job Description: To teach English to 6th-8th grade or 9th – 12th grade English speaking students.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides instruction that is age appropriate.
· Teaches to the top of the class and holds to the standards of curriculum.
· Integrate the use of technology and multi-media in the classroom.
· Proactively develops recovery plans for students in need of additional help.
· Tutors students outside of class time as needed;
· Exhibits professionalism in all job-related situations.
· Is a positive influence on students, parents, and fellow staff & administration.
· Follows professional ethics consistent with school and system policies in working with students, students’ records, parents, and colleagues.
· Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies.
· Participate in training programs and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning.
· Communicates responsibly with all individuals and groups.
· Develops relationships with parents and educating them in written and oral forms.
· Communicates with parents regularly (in-person, over the phone, etc.).
· Assumes a fair share of outside-of-the-classroom school responsibilities.
· Adheres to local school procedures and regulations in a supportive manner.
· Demonstrates loyalty to the school and its leadership.
· Works cooperatively with colleagues and the community; and
· May include overseeing recess or lunch.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree $44,000 (Teaching Degree Preferred); fluency in English with a strong command of excellent classroom management skills; a passion and love for children; basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software; experience in student teaching; and a valid teaching certificate is preferred.
