What are the responsibilities and job description for the Host, $20+/hr position at MACHETE?
Job Title: Host
General Responsibilities
- Responsible for reservations, booking events, gathering and organizing guest information, guest relations from door to table and as guests are leaving, and running food and drinks to guests as needed
- Solve reservation problems or issues that arise with reservations in a timely manner and with a pleasant attitude
- Interact with guests and create an experience that's both elegant and elevated, yet friendly and comfortable
- Learn and utilize all systems, policies, and procedures
- Monitor and update reservation system
- Optimize table flow to maximize turn potential and provide an even workflow and rhythm for waitstaff
- Check tables in and out using reservation tracking service
- Welcome guests in a warm, friendly manner with eye contact and a calm, professional demeanor
- Acknowledge any special occasions at the door as you welcome guests unless otherwise requested in the reservation
- Inform guests of their primary server to ensure a smooth handoff of service
- Explain QR menu system to guests; provide physical menu if requested
- Gather guest dietary restrictions, special occasions, and other details and pass them on to the servers during the seating process
- Provide guests with accurate time assessment if their seat is not ready at their preferred time
- Answer phone and emails to provide assistance to guests when they reach out to the restaurant
- Contact guests on the waiting list if a table opens to maximize table occupancy
- Provide exemplary service to guests from the time they walk in the door until the time they leave as per our steps of service
- Use creative thinking to address customer complaints and issues, develop solutions on-the-fly
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor at all times in order to promote a comfortable, relaxing environment
- Run dishes and beverages to guests when service is called, as needed
- Report any issues to Operations Director, Executive Chef, Bar Director, Service Director, or Lead Server immediately
- Ensure the dining room and all common areas are clean and ready for service daily
- Clean dining room and all common areas at the end of the night in preparation for the next day
- Complete sidework daily as assigned by the Lead Server
- Maintain proper sanitary conditions in the dining area, bathrooms, and common areas including directly outside of any entrances
- Promote a safe, comfortable work environment and foster positivity in the workplace
- Motivate team members through positive feedback as well as letting them know when processes and behaviors can be improved
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
