Job Description
Position: CNC Set Up/Machinist
Reports to: Production Supervisor
Responsibilities:
Produces machined parts by setting up and machining on CNC lathes, mills or swiss style machines and related equipment; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.
Qualifications:
Excellent technical and communication skills are essential with technical education and experience in CNC machining. Specific Responsibilities:
Plans machine and program processes by following work procedures, customer’s purchase order requirements, blueprints/drawings, and material specifications.
Sets-up CNC lathes, mills or swiss style machines by installing and adjusting chucks, collets, tool holders, bushings and /or vises.
Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-article and sample workpieces; adhering to Machining Concepts Quality standards.
Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; keeping the area and machine clean; calling for repairs when needed.
Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Documents actions by completing In-Process Inspection sheets and quality logs, according to the frequency stated on the Inspection sheet.
Will use Go – No Go gages / pins, Inside / Outside Mic’s, Calipers, Depth Mic’s, CMM
(Coordinate Measuring Machine), Height Gage, Optical Comparator, etc, to accomplish this task.
Access and enter information into the company computerized system (EstiTrack) to document operations by scanning bar codes from the router, entering parts produced, parts scraped, etc; to provide an up-to-date, accurate report of work produced.
Perform other duties as assigned or as required to assist in the production and meeting of customer and company
requirements.
