Who are You at MacLellan?
As the Controller at MacLellan HVAC & Mechanical you are part of Best People. You are the key leader over our growing accounting team, serving three branches in two separate states. You will provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points. Your passion for problem solving and driving continuous improvement, contributes to our world-class customer service reputation. You guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to the current economic landscape. You develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines. You achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective actions. You maximize efficiency through innovative process development. Working as a business partner with our HVAC operations team, you are exceeding their expectations daily by implementing our Best Systems while you engage our team to share their voice as we collectively identify and eliminate waste to deliver Best Results!
What are the skills necessary for success?
Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to drive efficiencies within financial processes.
History establishing practices and procedures within accounting (chart of accounts, general ledger, financial reporting, budgeting, ERP system selection).
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience working with operations management on short- and long-term departmental objectives.
Strong leadership skills with dedication to driving and achieving results.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with other financial/accounting systems (ERP) preferred.
Good listening skills.
Ability to maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
Ability to establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
Expertise in implementing consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
Must be capable of developing and enforcing internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
Ability to oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Ability to travel to another state at least once/quarter.
What education and/or experience are needed for success?
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA designation preferred.
5 years business/accounting experience with at least 1 year of mechanical or construction accounting preferred.
Thorough knowledge of US GAAP.
Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
Exemplary history of financial project management including external audit process.
