The Madison Beach Hotel is a Hilton “Connie” award-winning and AAA 4-Diamond resort located on the Connecticut shoreline seeking an extraordinary Catering Sales Manager. This person is an enthusiastic, passionate, and energetic team member with experience and specialization in the sale of weddings and special events, and is willing to go above and beyond to exceed guest expectations. 

This professional is responsible for securing luxury high-end wedding and social events through impeccable sales, presentation, and communication skills meeting and speaking with clients on-property.  The Catering Sales Manager will enjoy a lifelong passion for food, wine, outstanding service and exhibit relentless attention to detail.   Reporting to the Director of Sales and Catering, this person is part of the team that makes dreams come to life!   The position actively sells to clients, provides advance planning services, and collaborates directly with the culinary and banquet teams to ensure that all details are covered.  

This is a salaried position with a goal-driven incentive plan.

The Ideal Candidate For This Position

Self-motivated and persistent in the knowledge of wedding and special event trends and recommending enhancements to continually challenge, elevate and refine resort offerings.  The ideal candidate will be a master multi-tasker with exceptional organizational and guest service skills who thrives in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Consistently achieves the delicate balance of acting as client champion while simultaneously representing the operational capabilities of the hotel. Develops and presents successful solutions to challenging situations. 

Knowledge of Delphi CRM and hotel background preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively sells, prepares proposals and client communications, prepares contracts, prepares and distributes Event Orders, and other hotel-related documentation for catering events of all types.
  • Conducts hotel site tours, meets with clients at the hotel, or virtually, to build relationships and generate business for the hotel.
  • Identify and pursue revenue opportunities from new and repeat business through individual direct selling activities, including telephone calls, property visits, market visits, networking events, and other activities as required.

Job Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of sales experience in catering sales required, at a hotel or other similar venue, with emphasis on past social event sales experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree (Hospitality or Hotel/Restaurant preferred); or four years equivalent experience and/or training, Hospitality or Hotel/Restaurant preferred.
  • Experience in using sales automation (Delphi.fdc preferred) & PMS systems preferred.
  • Current Drivers’ License.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written. Ability to provide legible communication.
  • TIPS certification, desired, but not required.
