A Patient Service Representative is the first line of contact between patients and our clinics and physicians. The Patient Service Representative follows Madison Medical standards of practice, policies and procedures and supports the philosophy by incorporating them into the clinic. This position reports to the Clinic Supervisor and/or Clinic Manager.
Responsibilities
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner; communicates wait times and keeps in touch with patients during waiting time.
- Demonstrates professionalism and excellent customer service, communication and patient assistance both in person and on the phone.
- Schedules patients according to the physician protocol.
- Completes patient registration and checks insurance eligibility for every patient to ensure payer information is correct and current.
- Collects co-pays and prior balances from patients at the time of their visit.
- Prepares charts for patient visits.
- Process insurance (wrong insurance, no insurance) reports monthly.
- Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner.
- Works with physicians and other staff to acquire additional information to achieve document completeness.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
