Job Title: Inventory Control Supervisor—Alabama Reports To: Materials Manager—Alabama
Summary: The Inventory Control Supervisor will provide leadership in inventory control and warehouse management. This position will be responsible for the materials management team at the Eclectic, AL operations while supervising up to 30 employees. The ability to facilitate communication between the production, sales, planning, and inventory control teams will be essential to accomplish company goals. This position reports to the Materials/Shipping Manager—Alabama.
Essential Duties
- Determine inventory plans and procedures to optimize manufacturing operations, maximize inventory investment while minimizing waste and maintaining expected levels of customer service.
- Utilize SAP to analyze and identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and minimize adjustments through process improvement, benchmarking and dash-boarding.
- Analyze, advise, and make recommendations on Customer Inventory programs, both new programs and existing programs; including finished goods, buyouts, imports, and raw materials.
- Identify opportunities for internal buffer stock or finished goods inventory. Collaborate with appropriate parties to reduce cost or provide staffing flexibility.
- Monitor and coordinate imported goods inventory with Planning, Sales, Purchasing and Production to optimize efficiency, lower cost and maximize space.
- Maintain quality of staff by hiring, training, developing, and mentoring employees to ensure maximum performance thru production support and customer service.
- Provide creative leadership and direction to employees to improve operating efficiencies and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.
- Manage work flow by monitoring steps of the process, setting process variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel, and developing reporting procedures and systems.
- Recommend and implement action plans to correct deviations noted during daily work, internal and/or external audits.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements to evaluate estimates and outputs.
- Timely complete and report administration duties which include time and attendance system, holiday/vacation planning, production reports, back order reviews, past due lists, and safety violations/concerns.
- Formalize and review and distribute production, work, cycle counts and shipment schedules.
- Confer with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates.
- Achieve results by establishing priorities, communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Education, Skills Needed, and Physical Demands
- BS or Associates degree in manufacturing operations or logistics management preferred
- Five years of experience in assembly manufacturing leadership role preferred
- Expertise in SAP and Microsoft Excel
- Working knowledge of Lean processes preferred
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and writing)
- Organized, strong time management skills, deadline, and detail-oriented
- Team first attitude
- Positive attitude and action oriented.
- Time will be spent in office and shop floor environments with extreme hot and cold temperatures fluctuating based on weather conditions.
- Experience operating forklift and material handling equipment.
- Supply Chain Certification Preferred
