Position Title: Master Plumber/Pipefitter
Reports To: Project Manager
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Pay Grade: 5
Purpose: The Master Plumber/Pipefitter is responsible for installing and replacing natural gas equipment in residential and commercial buildings. This position is also responsible for gas leak detection.
Compensation ranges from $32-$35/hr.
Position will start within the next 30 days.
Responsibilities:
- Install and/or replace natural gas meters, regulators, meter fits, and other related natural gas equipment as necessary.
- Maintain metering equipment and conduct investigations.
- Perform external surface inspection to verify if there is visible atmospheric corrosion (metal loss or pitting).
- Conduct leak survey using a combustible gas indicator (CGI).
- Conduct inspection of regulator vents
- Perform painting of natural gas piping when necessary.
- Interact with customers/clients.
- Report results on a mobile device with an installed application.
- Maintain a high level of worksite health and safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows (browser)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good conflict de-escalation and resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative to perform tasks.
- Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to meet project deadlines
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is required
- A minimum of two (2) years of construction or mechanical experience.
- Master Plumber or Master Pipefitter certification is required.
- Northeast Gas Association (NGA) operator qualifications are required.
- OSHA 10-30 or HAZWOPER training is preferred
Additional:
- Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Physical Demands:
- Duties are performed primarily in an outdoor setting with exposure to changing weather conditions.
- Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift up to 30 pounds
- Position requires the ability to climb up and down ladders
- Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
- Ambulatory across uneven surfaces, frequent bending at knees and waist.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
