Could you be our next Coding Specialist for our Health Information Management Department located in Newtown Square, PA? This is a remote opportunity, however, testing and orientation will be required on-site.

Utilizes performance feedback to enhance coding skills. Demonstrates aptitude for basic code assignment and problem-solving. They assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes according to the Official Guidelines for coding and reporting - including, but not limited to AHA, AMA, AHIMA, CMS, NCHS, and MLHS-specific guidelines.

Main Line Health hires 2 types of Coding Specialist:
1- Hospital Coding Specialist - Levels I, II, or II.
2- Professional (Pro Fee) Coding Specialist I or II.
Full-Time Day Shift: Two shifts available: Sunday – Thursday or Tuesday – Saturday. (Remote)
1) Professional Coding Specialist I:
Education
- Associate’s Degree in a healthcare business related field strongly preferred.
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA or AAPC approved program required.
Licensures & Certifications:
- Credential from AAPC such as CPC, COC (formerly known as CPC-H), CPC-A OR AHIMA credential such as CCS, CCA or CCS-P eligible.
Experience:
- Up to 1 year experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 required. Experience working in EPIC or other electronic health record management software is preferred.
- Proficiency demonstrated by a score of at least 80% or greater on the MLHS coding assessment.
2) Hospital Coding Specialist I:
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in a healthcare business related field strongly preferred.
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA or AAPC approved program required.
Experience:
- Up to 1 year experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC assignment required. Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Possesses a working knowledge of DRG and APC assignment.
- Proficiency demonstrated by a score of at least one record type of 80% or greater on the MLHS coding assessment.
Licensures & Certifications:
- Credential from AAPC such as CPC, COC (formerly known as CPC-H), CPC-A OR AHIMA credential such as CCS, CCA or CCS-P eligible
3) Professional Coding Specialist II
Education:
- Associate’s Degree in a healthcare business related field strongly preferred.
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA or AAPC approved program required.
Licensures & Certifications:
- Credential from AAPC such as CPC, COC (formerly known as CPC-H), CPC-A OR AHIMA credential such as CCS, CCA or CCS-P eligible
Experience:
- Up to 1 year experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 required. Experience working in EPIC or other electronic health record management software is preferred.
- Proficiency demonstrated by a score of at least 80% or greater on the MLHS coding assessment.
4) Hospital Coding Specialist II
Education:
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA accredited program required. Associate Degree strongly preferred.
Licensures & Certifications:
- RHIT, or RHIA preferred. CCS or eligible.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC assignment required. Acute care facility experience preferred.
- Possesses a working knowledge of DRG and APC assignment.
- Proficiency demonstrated by a score of at least three record types of 80% or greater on the MLHS coding assessment.
5) Hospital Coding Specialist III
Education:
- Completion of basic coding courses from an AHIMA accredited program required. Associate Degree strongly preferred.
Licensures & Certifications:
CCS required
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience coding ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and DRG and/or APC assignment in an acute care facility required.
- Possesses a working knowledge of DRG and APC assignment.
- Proficiency demonstrated by a score of at least three record types of 80% or greater on the MLHS coding assessment.
