Job Description

Makiko’s Daycare Center provides global education for our clients based on the curriculum used in the Japanese pre-school (hoikuen) system. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have worked with young children from diverse backgrounds. Bilingual persons, particularly those fluent in Japanese and English, are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

-Playing with and providing outstanding care for children

-Teaching daily curriculum

-Assisting with broad daycare support tasks such as, light cooking and light cleaning

Qualifications

-Must enjoy working with young children

-Be cheerful, flexible and eager to help director or other teachers without being asked

-At least 16 years old

-Able to pass a background check and drug screen

-Currently have CPR/First aid and food handlers permits or be willing to obtain them (we will help with this if necessary)

- Able to work Tuesday and/or Thursday afternoons until 6pm

- Work well with others

-Energetic and comfortable being on your feet for several hours at a time

-Have a positive attitude

-Able to speak Japanese or have a basic familiarity with Japanese culture is a plus

-Experience caring for children with little or no supervision in a daycare or school setting is a big plus

-Starting Hourly Pay of $16 to $18/hour depending on experience

-Bonus pay available for fluent Japanese speakers
