Title: Outreach and Marketing Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt (Year-Round)
Salary Range: $72,000 - $82,000
Position Summary
The Outreach and Marketing Manager works with the COO and other stakeholders to create, develop and coordinate comprehensive marketing plans and outreach initiatives, which include written, visual, and electronic communications (including social media). The Outreach and Marketing Manager consults with the Director of School Operations, school leaders, COO, CEO, and key stakeholders to develop strong outreach and marketing strategies that effectively deliver the desired message, policy interpretation, and problem resolution for prospective, newly-admitted, and current families.
This position will execute a diverse variety of communications, marketing, outreach, and administrative tasks for the purpose of recruiting students and families for the lottery processes at Making Waves Academy (MWA). This position also supports the school with developing, implementing, and managing systems for communicating information to current families to increase access to critical information both from an operational and programmatic perspective.
Primary Responsibilities
Marketing
- Provides management and support to communications processes, which includes maintaining the annual communications content calendar (for all communications) and task queue.
- Manages the production of high-quality products that effectively deliver the desired message within budget and time constraints.
- Identifies specific marketing and program outreach needs and develops the content and process for organizational improvements.
Outreach
- Manages and curates MWA’s family communication software and school calendar.
- Curates engaging content for the organization’s social media platforms (which could include: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn) that aligns with school policy and honors community standards.
- Supports the school with communication and volunteer opportunities to increase parent engagement.
Recruitment
- Manages and executes an overall enrollment recruitment strategy in order to meet enrollment goals for MWA; under the supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, recommends and executes marketing strategies to meet target goals of student enrollment that is representative of the surrounding areas of the school, increases representation of several chronically underserved populations and to generally reach diverse, intellectually curious students.
- Creates and implements an outreach plan targeting prospective and newly-admitted families to keep them engaged, excited, and informed about the school.
- Works with executive leaders, school leaders, faculty, and staff to promote school-based open houses, enrollment information meetings, and other school-based recruitment events.
- Tracks, analyzes and communicates all data regarding student recruitment data against benchmarks, timelines, and goals.

- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Managing Director of Community Engagement & Growth or designee.
- Collaborates and seeks out support from of the Director of School Operations, as needed.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to adhere to the following:
- Frequently walk across the middle and upper school campus.
- Participate in campus supervision duty each week – Monday through Friday frequency may vary based on the supervision assignment each semester.
- Lift files, open filing cabinets, bend or stand on a stool as necessary, and sit for long periods.
Travel
Frequent travel will be required for MWA-related events, community events (for recruiting purposes), campus visits, conferences, and other MWA-related opportunities.
Qualifications
Experience
- Experience with recruitment-related work within a school or similar field, community organizing, and community outreach experience preferred.
- Knowledge of a variety of marketing and outreach techniques including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications. Experience working with students and families from historically underserved communities.
- Experience managing social media platforms on behalf of an organization (not personal accounts).
Skills
- Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal communication, active listening, and political acumen skills.
- Knowledge of campus protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
- Ability to organize and manage projects.

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a relative field of work
Licenses or Certificates Needed
- Employment eligibility will include fingerprints, tuberculosis, COVID-19 vaccination, and/or other employment clearance
Preferred but not required
- Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred
