Qualifications (Required):
- Valid Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Instructor.
- Successful experience working as a COMS.
- Ability to provide Direct, specialized instruction and consultative services as they apply to developmental and compensatory skills, for students who are blind, visually impaired including those with additional disabilities
- Ability to relate /communicate effectively with teachers, students, parents, and
administrators.
- Teachers must commit to being present for each day of the program. See dates below for more info.
Qualifications (Preferred):
- Experience working in the Malden Public Schools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in two staff development meetings.
- Collaborate with the Program Managers and Program Coordinator to provide direct services to students on IEP’s.
- Complete planning logs for each session and maintain student attendance records.
- Keep folders/portfolios with student work.
- Perform other related activities as required by the program coordinator.
- Write end of summer progress reports for each student serviced.
Duration:
Program Administration and Implementation 40 hours total to include the following:
Professional In-service Days June 28 - 29 (3 hours each day).
18 days, Monday-Thursday, from July 5 – August 3.
Please note the first week of the program will run Wednesday and Thursday ONLY
(7/5-7/6).
Stipend: $37 an hour, $3,034 total
