As the Manager, IT Infrastructure, you are a hands-on leader for a team of IT Infrastructure
experts. You will use your technical skills blended with business acumen and leadership to design
architecture and build the next-generation infrastructure for American Freight "cloud-first"
enterprise. You have a can-do attitude and are used to rolling up your sleeves and doing what it
takes to ensure success.
What you will be doing:
- Responsibility for managing design, build, and support for the critical IT infrastructure that
supports all of American Freight business units.
- You will provide mentorship, coaching and build career paths for your highly skilled team of
engineers.
- You will create and maintain a roadmap and project pipeline for the IT Infrastructure team,
prioritizing in alignment with American Freight business goals.
- You will plan strategically and work tactically with your team to ensure project success and
over-deliver to demanding internal customers.
- You are a key player of the IT and TechOps management team, providing guidance, insight,
and thought leadership.
- You will design a communication and feedback system that is effective for every team
member and adjust it as the team, and company dynamics shift.
- You thrive in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment and be agile and willing to
adjust as the company's priorities shift.
- You will build a culture of process-driven execution, employing continuous improvement to
drive operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Build, and support American Freight IT infrastructure both in the cloud and on premises
based on business needs.
- Design and implement scripts and tools for automation to drive IT Infrastructure and User
Services efficiency.
- Create and maintain documentation of IT systems including architecture diagrams,
processes, procedures, and runbooks.
- Create and continuously improve monitoring and alerting systems, dashboards, log
management.
- Create and participate in using metrics to drive analytical and objective looks at how IT is
operating.
- Make security a cornerstone of how systems are built, processes are designed, and the
everyday IT operation.
- Execute on projects with a strong attention to detail and high-quality delivery.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in MIS/Computer Science or 15 yrs of related experience.
- A minimum of 1years of experience managing highly technical IT teams.
- A minimum 2 years of experience managing technical projects or programs.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an IT Infrastructure or IT Engineering role.
- Minimum of 5 years working with cloud technologies, including Azure and AWS;
certifications a plus.
- Proficiency with using and securing popular cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experiencing managing IT infrastructure hardware (switches, routers, firewalls, PDUs, UPSs,
rack/blade servers, and storage arrays)
- Strong core networking skills (DHCP, DNS, VLANs, routing).
- Expert level knowledge of single sign on (SSO) architectures on and multi-factor
technologies.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Must be available to provide after-hours support and be on-call when needed.
