The Mechanical Engineer is part of a team that is responsible for meeting client needs through the customized and innovative designs of electrical and mechanical plans of products that service the oil & gas, marine, energy and other industry-related markets. The overall objective of this position is to design, develop standards, and perform calculations related to the successful completion of Power Control Distribution Buildings.
Activities & Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing the PCD Buildings concept, design, and process-improvement initiatives
- Incorporate and comply with all applicable design standards and client specifications in order to ensure the integrity of the Power Control Distribution buildings.
- Provide mechanical and structural engineering support to the design, methodology, and production of Power Control Distribution buildings.
- Support the efforts of the building division to reduce cycle time through research and optimize design to increase manufacturing efficiency, reduce material cost, and exceed client expectations.
- Review industry-related processes, codes and standards, professional publications and current practices to develop and maintain professional and technical knowledge. These include the latest IBC, State and Life Safety codes.
- Work with other personnel in the Buildings Division to develop and maintain best practices and standardization through efficient design and technical documentation.
- Facilitate optimal workflows by providing accurate parts lists, supporting drawings, and cut sheets to manufacturing in time to meet schedule requirements.
- Support the building production schedule by requisitioning building materials to ensure required materials are available on time.
- Develop mechanical and structural designs and produce drawing packages for the construction of Power Control Distribution and crimp plate buildings.
- Assist drafting in developing the design of Power Control Distribution buildings using computer-assisted design and drafting equipment and software.
- Support estimating and sales efforts for Power Control Distribution buildings by providing insight into the latest IBC wind and Seismic loads.
Education/Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, preferred
Experience
- 4 years of experience engineering and designing power control distribution or crimp plate buildings
- 2 years of experience working with engineering design software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD or Inventor, required
