About the role:

Mantra Bio is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to provide high quality HR support to our world-class team. If hired, you will be responsible for performing HR-related duties, such as managing benefits, payroll and hiring. Moreover, you will lead and execute programs to improve our employee experience and drive employee engagement. In doing so, you will work closely with the Chief of Staff, the business operations team, and other members of senior management in supporting all employees. With your experience in human resources and talent development you will become an invaluable asset to this dynamic, high profile team and will contribute to our mission to create Well-being for All.

Responsibilities:

Payroll, Benefits, and Compliance

  • Perform payroll related functions including but not limited to running payroll, process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, wage garnishments and deductions.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, procedures and generate reports.
  • Support Open Enrollment and other Benefit related programs as needed.
  • Act as an HR liaison for employees, ensuring timely communication and prompt resolution of requests related to payroll, benefits, and company policies.
  • Ensure compliance through creation, interpretation, and application of company-wide human resources policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Serve as HR representative to the leadership and management team.

Recruitment and Employee Development

  • Own our recruitment process by enhancing candidate experience, managing external recruiters, streamlining interview coordination, and facilitating new hire onboarding to ensure new team members are integrated into Mantra Bio's culture and community smoothly and efficiently.
  • Direct our bi-annual performance management process to maintain fair and consistent processes that provide our employees with the opportunity to grow and succeed.
  • Administer and evaluate employee trainings as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and lead initiatives to improve the employee experience through data-driven surveys.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • Minimum 3-6 years relevant HR experience. Experience in the biotechnology industry is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field required. Professional HR certification preferred.
  • Experience in managing processes, procedures, and HR functionalities such as recruiting, payroll, benefits and employee engagement.
  • Experience with HR Information Systems (HRIS) such as Gusto and ATS such as Greenhouse preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of California State and Federal regulations and practices as they pertain to HR policies. Familiarity with employee relations and employment immigration law (visa sponsorship, relocation guidelines, and programs) is preferred.
  • Ability to perform data analysis to make timely and data-driven decisions.
  • Experience with and willingness to work in a hybrid-work culture that balances onsite and remote work, while regularly using tools such as Slack and Google suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • High level of integrity, initiative, and commitment to excellence.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
