Consumer Credit Manager I

Overview: Responsible for the management of the fraud prevention/investigation team, credit decisioning activities (including the analysis of complex credit transactions), and relationships with outside business partners. Accountable for personnel management, staying informed with recent fraud trends and detection strategies, changes to front-end fraud referral programs, training and audits, policy changes, and process flow improvements. Primary Responsibilities: Manage consumer application fraud detection activities, including quality control, workflow, fraud detection strategies, and staff scheduling. Address staffing needs such as performance appraisals, hiring, promotions, terminations, etc. Perform audits on staff for adherence to policies and procedures and provide scheduled feedback. Exercise managerial control over staffing, salary recommendations, performance appraisals, hiring and termination. Analyze current process flows and recommend/implement modifications as a result of new program initiatives. Assist in the development and implementation of high level initiatives, including new origination systems, legal initiatives, acquisitions and mergers. Ensure compliance with all various state and federal regulations. Respond to risk and regulatory agency reviews and exams by external auditors/examiners. Establish and uphold customer, business partner, and vendor relationships through customer service quality. Scope of Responsibilities: Works with all levels of management throughout the organization to ensure that departmental requirements, processes and customer loan information is communicated properly. Manage consumer application fraud detection activities, including quality control, workflow, fraud detection strategies, and staff scheduling. Educate underwriters and managers on fraud concepts to reinforce their referral of suspect applications to the fraud team and contribute to the identification of fraudulent activity to protect bank interests. Work with external vendors to define business requirements and implement fraud prevention products, strategies, and tools. Collaborate with Risk Management, Consumer Product, Branches, Contact Center, Enterprise Security, and Asset Management on fraud related issues. Ensure identification and referral to Enterprise Security of other accounts, such as deposit and internet banking accounts, which need to be closed to further limit bank exposure. Works with Corporate Compliance and Legal departments to ensure that each employee understands the Federal and State government requirements concerning Fair Lending Supervisory/ Managerial Responsibilities: Manages a team. Education and Experience Required: Bachelors’ degree in Business or Finance or equivalent work experience. Minimum seven years Indirect Credit experience and working knowledge of credit reports, tax returns, and financial statements. Two(2) to three(3) years supervisory/managerial experience. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to handle conflict without alienating people Solid understanding of the bank’s risk appetite Experience working in a team environment, with proven track record of successful interactions Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Self-motivated, well-organized individual. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work under critical time constraints.
