GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The financial controller will work with the CFO, to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. Finance controller responsibilities will include financial risk management, as well as financial reporting of the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Works with external auditors as necessary and provides needed information for the annual audit.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Provide operational data and analysis based on production, sales, assets, and safety.
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Assists or supports other departments on various projects through data reporting mechanisms, as necessary.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen controls.
- Performs other related duties as assigned, while understanding duties may change with or without notice.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting is preferred
- At least 10 years of related experience required.
Experience:
- Proven working experience as a Financial controller
- 10 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- EREP/MRP experience, Sage is preferred
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills

- Targets will include profitability, liquidity, efficiency, valuation, and leverage.
- Complete all assigned reporting tasks prior to deadlines, while assisting other departments as necessary.

Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
