Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Planning and Research, the Planning and Research Analyst performs fully proficient professional-level research and analysis duties. The Analyst collects and analyzes data, conducts data reporting/visualization, designs and produces research studies. This position assists with project coordination and program development as well as program evaluation. Incumbents may be assigned to coordinate or serve as a project lead over smaller projects independently.
May occasionally lead project teams and/or staff of the same or lower levels on an ongoing basis and may supervise assigned non-exempt staff.
Essential Functions
35% - Data analysis and reporting – Designs and conducts research studies. Collects data and performs statistical analysis for use in decision-making. Develops and prepares reports of trends and research results.
35% - Data extraction, preparation and visualization - Create and update visualizations, reports and dashboards from data warehouses and other data sources using Tableau and Tableau Prep software or other SQL applications for use by committees, departments and leaders to inform decision-making.
20% - Consulting and decision support - Provides professional level staff support to committees, advisory groups, or departments that may include performing research, authoring documents and making presentations. Researches industry standards, trends, best practices and emerging technologies and makes recommendations for implementation. Coordinates projects and assists with program development.
10% - Designs and conducts surveys and focus groups; performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business statistics, educational studies, information technology or directly related field and two (2) full-time equivalent years of professional-level experience in research and analysis.
OR
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) full-time equivalent years of professional-level experience in research and analysis.
OR
High School Diploma or GED and six (6) full-time equivalent years of professional-level experience in research and analysis.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience creating data visualizations, reports and dashboards in Tableau
- Experience extracting complex data sets from relational databases using queries written in SQL
- Experience conducting statistical analysis with SPSS, SAS, R or other statistical software
- Experience using Qualtrics survey platform to administer large surveys
- Experience presenting complex research results to a diverse audience, either with written reports or verbal presentations
- Professional communication skill evidenced in application cover letter
Special Working Conditions
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
- Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment
