Senior Paralegal, Corporate Legal Department - Hybrid

The Senior Paralegal for the corporate legal team at Mariner Wealth Advisors is the ideal role for an experienced paralegal who loves working on diverse corporate legal matters pertaining to the firm’s general legal operations, including providing paralegal support on labor & employment matters, contract management, litigation, regulatory and compliance legal matters, file maintenance (and version-control of commonly used corporate legal forms), corporate business registrations, expense reimbursements, and legal department budgeting and invoicing, This opportunity allows you to collaborate on a broad range of legal work across many departments within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Supports in-house corporate legal department attorneys and other staff as needed on a broad cross-section of subjects
• Reviews legal department documents and forms, identifies red flags (where applicable), proofreads legal documents and forms, and notes questions for clarification/understanding and potential action 
• Maintains legal department files and records
• Demonstrates experience in general corporate matters, including corporate organization, reviewing various agreements and managing a variety of commonly used legal department forms
• Provide support for leased property portfolio including business registration and insurance coverage maintenance
• Identify process improvement opportunities for the corporate legal department
• Assist with legal invoice review and alignment with billing guidelines (where applicable)
• Support attorney registrations and license renewals, and expense reimbursement
• Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained
• Builds effective working relationships internally
• Regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an ABA approved paralegal program
• 5 years experience with in-house corporate legal matters and/or a combination of private practice and in-house experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Education or professional work experience in finance or other related business field

Skills and Knowledge

• Experience supporting in-house attorneys on a broad range of corporate legal matters
• Extremely conscientious about accuracy and attention to detail; takes ownership and accountability to produce thorough, high quality deliverables
• Demonstrates strength with issue spotting and critical thinking with complex legal matters
• Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand environment while balancing multiple priorities 
• Excellent interpersonal relations and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization, diverse leadership groups, external parties and general counsel; demonstrates a team-oriented attitude and work style
• Advanced level MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat skills; aptitude to learn new technology quickly and proficient at implementing technology and tools into processes 
• Familiarity with file management and vendor tracking solutions such as Box a plus
