ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Involved in the consolidated reporting and analysis of inventory costs and transactions (raw materials, WIP, finished goods, and packaging), including monthly reporting of Cost of Goods Sold, reviewing plants’ inventory transactions, reviewing and analyzing transactions affecting inventory, outside/interplant freight, reserves, and other inventory activities. Be responsible for inventory reconciliation and development of cost standards.
Actively involved with semi- and annual year-end physical inventory counts and work with external and bank auditors per requests for COGS and inventory testing.
Use the current cost accounting system, spreadsheet software and MRP system and suggest improvements to reporting and control procedures using an organized process of planning, parallel testing and reconciling to current system and general ledger.
Review/analyze inventory transactions in MRP system for daily and month-end activities.
Involved with month-end closing for general ledger expense and balance sheet account analysis, and special projects as needed.
Analyze cost estimates of new and proposed product costs, and provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products.
Utilize Excel for month-end inventory reporting of COGS and other transactions (reserves, change in inventory, etc.)
Effectively analyze general ledger accounts for month-over-month variances
Review daily accounts payable transactions regarding raw material purchases and freight carriers.
Control BOM (bill of material) set-ups
Analyze product development costs/profitability.
Overtime is required for this position.
Occasional travel to out-of-state plants (GA and IN) may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Experience in Cost Accounting (desired 5 years) within a manufacturing environment
Experience working with Engineering and Production personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
SKILLS
Knowledge of Advanced Excel (pivot tables, linked spreadsheets, advanced calculation formulas) Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Proficient working experience with ERP systems, Basic Accounting software systems. Experience with Vantage a plus
Knowledge of Report Writers and Financial Reporting Systems
Effective, clear communication, primarily with Senior Management, Finance, Sales and Production personnel
Knowledge of inventory costing, margin profit calculations
