- Receive, sort, compile intake from area agencies for file processing.
- Review data for charging and initiate recording.
- Create physical and computer case files. Initiate criminal history reports and file in appropriate case.
- Assign cases for prosecution per charge category and compile statistics regarding assignment.
- Archive monthly/yearly data reports.
- Research incomplete reports and order associated documents for file completion and for opening case.
- Download and print electronic police reports.
- Route miscellaneous documents.
- Report searching.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- High school diploma, or equivalent; AND
- Two years of experience in office and secretarial work; OR
- Any satisfactory combination of work, education, training, or experience relevant to the position, as determined by Marion County.
PREFERENCS
- Supplemental secretarial training courses
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires possession of, or obtain within 30 days of hire, Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification.
- Must pass a criminal history background investigation, which includes fingerprinting; however, conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this classification.
- This is a safety sensitive/special needs position. Final candidates selected for this position will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana. - This assignment is represented by a union.
- This is a full-time temporary position, which is eligible for overtime.
- Typical Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.

Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and techniques; English composition, spelling, and grammar; arithmetic and general record/bookkeeping practices; modern office equipment and machinery and their intended use; a variety of computer systems and software.
