What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front Office Team Member - Optometric Assistant position at Mark Ross Optometrist?
Immediate opening for an Optometric Technician who is highly motivated and detail oriented. The role is primary responsible for assisting in patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience or an interest in the healthcare field with outstanding people skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of the optometrist or location manager, assist with activities including but not limited to the following:
- Pre-screen patients before they see the optometrist, including the administration of diagnostic tests
- Gather patient’s medical history
- Communicating with doctor, staff, and patients
- Answer phone calls, greet patients and schedule appointments
- Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits
- Train patients on proper contact lens use and care
- Accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold
- Accurately and thoroughly document optometry exams and procedures as they are being performed by the doctor.
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician is preferred.
- Experience in optical/optometry industry preferred.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $13.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
Experience:
- Ophthalmology: 1 year (Preferred)
- Ophthalmic Technicians & Assistants: 1 year (Preferred)
