Mark Thomas is adding a Safety Manager to our team! The Safety Manager develops, coordinates, and implements occupational health and safety policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the office and field environments. The Safety Manager will partner with the Division Managers in the higher-risk areas of the organization to ensure the Company is meeting its federal, state, local, and client compliance requirements, and to confirm our employees are practicing the correct protocols to ensure a safe work environment. This position is also responsible for maintaining documentation in the areas of audits, training, meetings, incidents/accidents, and compliance reporting, etc. This role can be primarily remote but will require some travel to our California office locations and field project sites as needed. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and administers the Company safety program/IIPP and manual(s); implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with health and safety (H&S) requirements
- Creates and maintains visual inspection program of safety conditions at offices and within company vehicles
- Ensures adequacy of personal protective equipment (PPE); ensures correct PPE is ordered as distributed as appropriate
- Performs divisional safety onboarding for all new employees as appropriate
- Ensures compliance with applicable OSHA and Cal OSHA requirements, as well as with clients and partners
- Provides site safety inspections and audits, makes improvements as needed
- Performs adequate investigation/analysis of accidents (non-injury and injury); analyzes incident reports, metrics, near misses, and injuries and makes recommendations for changes accordingly
- Assists/works with HR partners to ensure employees receive post-accident care and workers compensation is administered
- Conducts safety and health training for education of management, business partners, coordinators, and subcontractors
- Ensures documentation of required safety and health recordkeeping information is completed and maintained; tracks and maintains employee safety documents and certifications
- Leads the Company’s Safety Committee
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate degree or bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Construction Management or related field desired
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS management position developing and implementing a multidisciplinary safety program; A/E/C industry safety experience preferred
- Public utility, including ISN tracking experience preferred
- OSHA 30 and Hazwopper certified, or can obtain upon hire
- Strong field safety execution acumen and knowledge of field safety programs & certifications
- Familiar with requirements of and experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Basic computer knowledge through effective use of a personal computer including Microsoft Office applications (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.); Knowledge of safety compliance software preferred
- Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with a variety of unique and diverse people and personalities
- Works cooperatively and professionally with staff, management, and external resources/partners
- Ability to travel
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; meets the eligibility requirements to drive for the Company

The offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The annual base compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $159,000.
