Job Summary
The Instructional Designer (Manager, Learning Development) supports the design and development of training across all Marriott disciplines and brands globally inclusive of the managed and franchise, management and hourly audiences. This position requires creativity, flexibility, instructional design expertise, exceptional writing skills and development expertise. Knowledge of design and development methods in the hospitality or service industry is critical to the success of this position.
This individual will design and develop training that facilitates behavior change, transfers critical knowledge, and develops technical and strategic skills in our associates. This individual assists other L D leaders in evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and ensuring training meets the business needs and objectives. The individual works closely with business leaders, numerous internal support teams, and vendors to ensure the successful development and integration of the learning deliverables. The Manager, Learning Development is a part of a pool of instructional designers and often balances working on multiple projects across multiple client types at the same time.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
-
BA/BS (or equivalent) in instructional design, human resources, or equivalent work experience in a related area.

3 years of instructional design and development experience.

Experience developing cutting-edge and digital learning
-
Experience using Rapid Development tools, e.g., Articulate, Storyline, Captivate, Adobe Creative Cloud Applications.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-
Program and project management expertise.

Experience in executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in applying adult learning theory and iterative instructional design methodologies
Preferred Experience

Design and development experience for hospitality, brand or service related organization.

Demonstrated success working in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment associated with consumer, marketing, or loyalty initiatives.

Demonstrated success in working with and influencing cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization.

Demonstrated ability to make decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information, under tight deadlines and in high pressure situations

Experience working with third-party development vendors who produce training materials under Marriott’s direction.

Experience in publishing and testing in a learning management system.

Proven experience in development of multiple learning modalities, i.e., mobile, online.

Graphic design experience with strong InDesign and PowerPoint skills

Graduate degree in Education, Instructional Design, or related field.

Learning Development

Build learning items from analysis, design and storyboard, through development of final deliverable.

Design, develop and implement training strategies, programs and processes as they relate to brands and disciplines to include modes that are high tech, high touch.

Create e-learning using software such as Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and other e-learning programs and web and video conferencing software.

Solicit and incorporate feedback and assess evaluation feedback to make appropriate changes.

Manage multiple tasks for numerous deliverables by transitioning simply and easily from one project to the next.

Explore alternative methods/mediums of providing training to the field.

Interact with subject matter experts across a variety of clients.

Clearly and concisely present ideas to clients on learning item design.
