What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Math Teacher Leader-Explore position at Martha O'Bryan Center?

Responsibilities - As a teacher leader you will have the dual opportunity to both provide direct instruction to Explorers and support the growth and development of colleagues.
As a teacher you will (50% of time):
? Overall: Create a positive, supportive classroom culture that promotes urgency, rigor, joy.
? Lesson Preparation: Implement our chosen math curriculum with fidelity while differentiating instruction to support all students in the learning process.
? Classroom Management: Develop and maintain a well-managed classroom that reinforces Explore’s Core Values through high expectations, student self reflection and accountability.
? Instruction: Provide a model of high expectations and instructional excellence for other teachers to learn from.
? Family Engagement: Maintain close relationships with families, through consistent communication.
? Flexibility: If needed, this could become a full time teaching role.
As a teacher leader you will (50% of time):
? Leadership Team: Play an active role on the Middle School’s Instructional Leadership Team to support the goals and objectives of the school.
? Development and Coaching: Provide professional development, coaching and modeling to support the implementation of our mathematics curriculum, resulting in coherent and standards-aligned instruction.
? Differentiation: Support teachers to provide access to the core curriculum for a diverse array of learners, including but not limited to students with disabilities.
? Use of Data: Support teachers with analysis of student data/work to identify student needs in order to adjust instructional practices and to develop targeted supports for students.
? Interventions: Collaborate with the Director of Intervention to ensure that Tier I, II, and III interventions are aligned and designed for maximum impact.
? PBL: Support and help facilitate the integration of math into Project-Based Learning Units.
? Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
? Highly effective communicator and collaborator with all stakeholders (leaders, teachers, families, etc).
? Experience in teaching middle school students.
? Commitment to addressing unfinished learning in the core curriculum so that students have access to grade-level content while receiving necessary support.
? Exemplary record of teaching and improving students’ mathematics proficiencies.
? Demonstrated strong classroom and time management skills.
? Proven ability to work as a member of a team with a commitment to his/her own learning and professional development
? Experience coaching and facilitating professional learning for a variety of adults.
? Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Holds or is eligible to secure a valid TN State teacher certification
? Additional skills that enhance students’ academic experience (e.g. multi-lingual, musician, dancing, carpentry, knock-knock jokes, etc.) highly
