POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, implementation, management and completion of specific projects and initiatives determined by Martin Luther King Community Medical Group ("MLK CMG") leadership. In conjunction with project manager, prioritizes achievement of complex, organization-wide projects (such as the NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home accreditation). In addition, the Project Coordinator will independently manage related projects of smaller scope. The Project Coordinator will perform these tasks in coordination with goals established by the MLKCH Office of Quality and Performance Improvement (the "Office") to ensure consistency with strategy, commitments and goals. Involves MLK CMG physicians in order to secure physician engagement in key initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the direction of the Director of Ambulatory Services and with feedback from MLK CMG physicians, determines which projects, in addition to NCQA Patient Centered Medical Home and NCQA Multicultural Health Care Distinction will take priority at any time
  • Leads all phases of a project - planning through implementation and close out
  • Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Defines the project tasks and resource requirements
  • Coordinates project plans including project timelines
  • Provides direction and support to the project team as required
  • Coordinate and independently lead and manage project committees, workgroups, taskforce and other project meetings. Responsible for complex scheduling activities. Prepare materials for meetings and education sessions. Orchestrates and oversees the execution of project special events (Kaizen, RPIW, new site opening)
  • Connects with the Office for guidance and to achieve consistency between goals of MLKCH and MLKCMG
  • Addresses questions and concerns of project team, management physicians in a professional and confident manner
  • Develops quality metric performance dashboards for projects
  • Maintains communication links to all relevant parties and to project logistics and calendars including project renderings, presentations, meeting notes, action items, project schedules etc.
  • Revises project plans as needed to reflect changes in scope and or timeline
  • Identifies project risks and recommend appropriate resolutions
  • On a scheduled basis, produces and presents reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  • Implements and manages project scope changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A. Education

  • Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent work experience.

B. Qualifications/Experience

  • One (1) year of project coordination experience
  • Healthcare and/or Hospital experience, with familiarity with NCQA requirements preferred

C. Special Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong project management skills with proven track record for delivering results
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • Proven experience in people management
  • Proven experience in strategic planning
  • Proven experience in change management
  • Proficient in project management software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; comfortable dealing with a large span of people from middle tier management to business analysts
  • Strong relationship management skills; recognizes the benefit of investing in relationships
  • An excellent understanding of business ethics and the ability to keep sensitive information confidential
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills; knows when to escalate issues and risks to upper management
  • Strong communication skills – verbal, listening, written, and presentation
  • Must be able to work effectively with management, administration, medical staff, nursing, and ancillary departments
  • Strong technical skills (MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, SharePoint, Project, Visio etc.
