Position Summary:
The Clinical Informatics Analyst position supports the core functions of the enterprise clinical information systems to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. The Clinical Informatics Analyst assists clinicians with design, implementation, workflow optimization, interface development, and issue resolution related to the Athena electronic medical record (EMR) and other clinical software as assigned. Analyst might also be responsible to provide on-call support as assigned.

Leads the implementation and optimization of clinical applications and defines the required functionality to meet organization objectives.

Participates in project planning sessions with clients, and business partners to analyze requirements perform needs assessments and impacts analysis and provide design recommendations for moderately complex systems.

Assesses needs and troubleshoot solutions, maintain application upgrade plans, and implement new applications as needed.

Works with medical and clinical staff to support, create and/or adapt written protocols. Provides support through knowledge of clinical processes, workflows, training, and clinical practice standards.

Analyzes and prepares detailed specifications and educational tools defining clinical processes, workflows, risk and impacts.

Monitors and analyzes the ongoing use of Athena and other clinical applications as it relates to clinical practice patterns, quality and safety measures, and system utilization.

Acts as a liaison between the clinical and medical staff and the technical IT staff as needed to accomplish information technology goals.

Develops and conducts training programs in the use of the Athena and other clinical applications.

Performs various support tasks including telephone or on-site assistance, software and hardware installations of light to moderate complexity, user account creation and management.
Education/Experience:
-
Associate Degree in Nursing or Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

One to three years of clinical experience in Nursing preferred.

Other training or certificate in healthcare informatics also preferred along with a 4-year degree.

Two or more years of directly related work experience in clinical informatics.

Experience with nursing documentation, bedside medication verification, physician documentation, and emergency department software preferred.

Experience with EMR-EHRs preferred. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):
Nursing, Informatics or other applicable degree or certificate preferred
