We are seeking an Associate ESG Consultant to join our ESG team in a technical capacity. This position will initially focus on developing Marx Okubo's ESG offerings, expanding our service capabilities and deliverables, and training existing team members.
Ideal candidates will be within commuting distance of one of our offices for a hybrid schedule, though we are open to considering remote within the US, with some travel expected.
Position Description
Assist with ESG reporting and assessments including net zero, decarbonization, building energy and water efficiency, sustainable material options. Oversee and perform benchmarking checklists, decarbonization pathways, greenhouse gas emissions reports, and property resilience assessments. Work closely with the external facing team to assess and execute each client’s initiatives and goals. Research, maintain, and train on global and local legislation and ESG trends. Provide technical leadership, training and guidance to ESG team members. Manage ESG projects, ensure they are delivered on time, on budget and review teams’ reports for accuracy. Minimal travel may be required for occasional site visits or team meetings.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree with major in Environmental Science, Architecture, or related
Professional licensure
Certifications Preferred - LEED, Fitwel, WELL, Energy Star, etc.
5 years of experience in related field
Proficiency with green building and building health certification rating systems
Proficiency with 3 or more ESG reporting frameworks (GRESB, PRI, TCFD, SASB, GRI, etc.)
Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA)
Net Zero design experience a plus
Building Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) preferred
Equivalent combinations of education, skills, and experience may be considered.
Physical Requirements
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Operate a computer (keyboarding) and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copier/scanner/printer
Possess visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen

Background Check
Marx|Okubo performs background checks, via an agency, on candidates that are made offers of employment which includes a confirmation of education and professional certifications, review of driving record for insurance purposes, court records, and professional references. Each background check is reviewed on an individual basis for criminal and driving history violations, and any inconsistencies, to determine next steps in the recruitment process.

Our expected starting salary range for this role is $85,000 - $100,000/year.
