  • Position Summary

      Responsible for administering leaves of absence efficiently and effectively and ensure compliance with state and federal leave of absence laws. Includes approving or denying, monitoring and maintaining requests for leave, communicating with employees, managers, and insurance carriers, generating reports, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and partnering with other key functions such as payroll, benefits and human resources business partners.

      Unit Specific Position Responsibilities
      • Will maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.
      • Employee Leave Specialist
      • Administer all aspects of employee leave programs, including the coordination of the administrative aspects of cases and claims.
      • Interpret and apply federal and state leave of absence laws and company leave of absence policies.
      • Serve as a subject-matter expert and main point of contact for leaves of absence. Provide guidance to employees and managers as it relates to leaves of absence.
      • Communicate leave of absence approvals, denials, return to work and other essential information to employees, managers, and human resources contacts. Send initial leave of absence eligibility packets and leave notifications.
      • Responsible for receiving, processing, tracking, documenting and retention of completed leave of absence documentation.
      • Develop and generate tracking reports to identify and analyze leave data and trends.
      • Identify process improvements to ensure the administration of leave programs is managed in an efficient and effective manner.
      • Work closely with team members in payroll and benefits administration as needed throughout the leave of absence.
      • Administration of the ADA accommodation process, including reviewing and tracking of ADA accommodations and hours.
      • Lead interactive conversations with employees and managers on ADA accommodations.
      • Complete disability questionnaires and return to the vendor or states.
      • Employee Health Specialist
      • Complete data entry of new hires and workforce employee health and immunization records into employee health software.
      • Track Contract Staff employee health and immunization records in employee health software.
      • Maintain electronic employee health records, including scanning records into employee health software.
      • Track workforce Wellness Attestation in HRIS employee health software.
      • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
  • Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
      Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
      • De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire

      • All clinical night staff routinely working between the hours of 2300-0700 that work in Acute Rehab, Med Tele, Med Surg, Birthways, PEDS, NICU, and Oncology AND all clinical staff that work in Nursing Support Team, Behavioral Health, ED, ICCU, and House Managers will be required to take the combative patient response team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Individuals less than 18 years old are excluded.


      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resource Management or related field.
      • 2 years of human resource experience.
      • Strong understanding of applicable state and federal regulations associated with Short-term Disability, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Personal Leave of Absence, and/or other state leave and disability programs.

      Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
      • Demonstrated ability to utilize critical thinking skills while exercising good judgment.
      • Ability to maintain confidential information.
      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook).

      Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
      • Ability to interact positively with all departments of the Medical Center.
      • Excellent judgment and discretion.
      • Ability to convey messages in a direct, clear and positive manner.
      • Can deal tactfully with the public; prioritize duties and handle stressful situations.
      • Time management.
      • Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
      • Ability to understand oral and written instructions.

Location: Mary Greeley Medical Center · HUMAN RESOURCES
Schedule: 80 hour Full Time Exempt, Day Shift, 8 AM-43.0PM
