Mary’s Place is hiring a Site Volunteer and Event Coordinator for its Family Center in The Regrade located in the South Lake Union neighborhood.
The Site Volunteer and Event Coordinator is the first point of contact for our on-site volunteers, will support all volunteer-driven programs and provide support for site-based program events. The role will work with individuals as well as corporate, organizational and faith groups as they volunteer time for various Mary’s Place activities. As well, this individual is responsible for helping to coordinate event activities at our various shelter sites such as the distribution of school supplies and holiday gifts to guests. This individual enjoys working with and motivating others and has a heart toward service.

This is a full-time, hourly position. The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM, however some events may require evening and weekend hours. The hourly range for this position is between $20 - $21 per hour DOE.
This position works closely with shelter staff and reports to the Volunteer Engagement Director. This position does not supervise other staff.
Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
· Serve as primary point of contact between shelter staff, program staff, and shelter-based volunteers for Mary’s Place Shelter Sites
· Provide a high level of service in greeting and supporting on-site volunteers
· Ensure that all volunteers check in and record their hours correctly
· Support in set up of volunteer support activities
· Support the Volunteer Engagement Team to seek out new sources of volunteer support in the community
· Support the shelter staff in implementing on site events and activities.
· Provide event logistics support before, during, and after on-site events
· Collaborate with Mary's Place staff to identify and fulfill volunteer support needs
· Respond to requests for volunteer support within 48 hours
· Assist the Volunteer Engagement Team with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, services and activities for volunteers
· Provide crisis management and set appropriate limits as needed
· Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications Required
· AA degree or equivalent experience
· Proven track record of providing excellent customer service
· Experience working with volunteers
· Valid Washington State driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to get to sites throughout King County.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to multi-task
· Exposure to database management preferred, familiarity with VolunteerHub a plus
· Ability to work successfully in a collaborative, team-oriented organization
· Demonstrated success developing outstanding relationships with staff, partners, and volunteers
· Computer competency: Outlook and Word required, Excel and PowerPoint preferred
· Ability to proficiently speak, read, write, and understand English
· Fluency in Spanish, French, Amharic, Tigrinya, or other languages a plus
· Exhibits compassion and empathy and works well with women, children, and families from all ethnic, social, economic, and sexual orientation and backgrounds
· Ability to understand and maintain appropriate boundaries
· Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, and possesses a positive attitude and sense of humor, even under pressure
· Willingness to perform other duties as required
· Strong understanding of/commitment to the Mary’s Place mission of empowering women, children, and families to reclaim their lives
Physical Requirements
• Ability to converse with and listen to people in many different settings
• Ability to use a computer and telephone, as well as other standard office equipment
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
• Ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds
• Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required
• Travel to program sites and meetings outside the site and around the county may be necessary on occasion
• Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogs
