Purpose of Role: The primary purpose of this position is to operate computer consoles and peripheral equipment to ensure efficient and continuous processing of systems consistent with department and computer operations’ procedures. The incumbent will also monitor production systems running to ensure that schedules are met and exceptions are handled according to procedure.
Education: High school diploma (or GED equivalent).
Experience: Two (2) years of related work experience to include user support or equivalent, and system monitoring of mainframes and infrastructure components/operating systems.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic IBM systems commands, standard IBM messages, and procedures for maintaining productivity.
- Knowledge of VTAM, JCL, JES2, MVS, TSO, Unix, Omegamon, CICS.
- Knowledge of MS operating systems, RedHat Enterprise Linux, Word 2016, Outlook 2016, and Office 365.
- Ability to reason analytically.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a positive and effective manner with end users to solve problems.
- Ability to use Mainframe and Personal Computer.
- Ability to use database user interface and query software and network monitoring software.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as needed to meet staffing requirements.
