Work Responsibilities:

The Data Specialist plays an integral role in ensuring that the data inputs needed to support business analytics are up to date, accurate, and well-documented. The Data Specialist acts as a liaison for data exchange between Masco Support Services (MSS), Masco Business Units, and our organization’s retail customers. The Data Specialist must possess strong attention to detail, be a self-starter, and have a strong understanding of how data inputs translate into information that aids decision making.

As the Data Specialist , you will:

  • Act as a liaison for data exchange between Masco Support Services (MSS), Masco Business Units, and our organization’s retail customers (ex/ THD, Lowes, Walmart)

  • Update data in database systems using manual entry or automated processes

  • Export and import data between systems

  • Perform root cause analysis on reported data issues and ensure underlying problems are resolved

  • Maintain a data catalog that documents the definitions of data attributes, usage, linkage, sources, etc.

  • Develop and maintain detailed process documentation

  • Develop reporting to audit data accuracy

  • Proactively measure data quality and ensure sufficient data quality is maintained so that data can effectively support business analytics

  • Engage with business leadership to quantify and articulate the business impact of data quality issues

  • Use continuous improvement techniques to improve data creation, maintenance, monitoring, and cleansing processes

  • Support initiatives to execute our enterprise data governance strategy

Diverse Skills and Experience That You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business-related field or equivalent education and experience

  • Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required, especially Microsoft Excel

  • Ability to complete mass updates using automation or MS Excel tools with a high accuracy rating, and strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects and met deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience with a data catalog software like Azure Purview is a plus

  • Experience with PowerQuery is a plus

  • Experience with Home Improvement Retailer software systems is a plus (ex/ THD, Lowes, Menards, Walmart)
