Nuclear Medicine Tech. This .6, part-time position is 8/hour shifts, variable days and is UFCW represented in DI Department. At Mason Health we offer an excellent benefit package, including a generous retirement contribution.
The Nuc. Med. Tech. works under the professional guidance of a Radiologist, administer trace amounts of radiopharmaceuticals to a patient to obtain functional information about organs, tissues and bone. The technologist then uses a special camera to detect gamma rays emitted by the radiopharmaceuticals and create an image of the body part under study. The information is recorded on a computer screen or on film.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
- 2. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- 3. Evaluate all performed exams for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Transmit to PACS.
- 4. Maintain accurate patient records.
- 5. Performs all aspects of patient care in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors; documents according to established standards; communicates effectively.
- 6. Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
- 7. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.

Required Education and Experience
1. Completion of an accredited training program in radiologic technology.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations
1. Current active status with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
3. Washington State Certification in Radiologic Technology
