Description
The Assistant Sound and A/V technician assists the House Sound Engineer and oversees all sound needs for performing arts, including all line and sound checks. In addition, oversees and runs any and all A/V needs of the performing arts and others as they arise. Serves as running crew for productions, and assists with load-in, strike, and build, as assigned.
We work with a wide range of artists and change venues frequently, including off-site and in-gallery productions: we're looking for a candidate who enjoys being fast on their feet and likes getting involved in all phases of staging shows and who looks forward to providing excellent service to visiting artists-in-residence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the House Sound Engineer as they work with directors and guest directors on sound for all productions. Help maintain sound equipment. Assist in the set up and strike of sound equipment of productions as needed, including set up for monitoring stage to front of house, etc. Set up and run all video and PowerPoint presentations. Work with directors and guest directors on A/V needs and design for all productions. Assists in all other production areas as needed, including stage and riser builds.
Requirements
Qualifications
BA /BFA or equivalent professional experience, familiar with traditional and conventional practices of theater stagecraft. Experience with running video signal & presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.) is helpful. Knowledge of setting up mics, proper mic placement, front-line and back-line gear, and the ability to troubleshoot problems. Experience with monitor mixing for concerts and theatrical productions is also helpful.
