GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Receiving general direction from the Director of Gordon Center for Medical Imaging, the Computer Administrator is responsible for the administration of computer infrastructure and backup of user/instrument data in Gordon Center. The Computer Administrator has a strong desire to apply his or her problem-solving skills in IT management to make essential contributions to the development of next-generation medical imaging technologies. The ideal candidate is a self-driven individual who enjoys working both independently and collaboratively and has a positive outlook. Experience in computer programming and AI, or an interest in developing skills in these areas, is preferred and provides opportunities for creative research directions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Relevant activities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Install, configure, test, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain multiple Linux CPU/GPU clusters.
- Lead data management including backups for users and instruments, data curation, and development and maintenance of a storage database.
- Provide day-to-day technical support for Gordon Center computer users.
- Maintain software licenses.
- Recommend needed computer systems, network hardware, and software.
- Document IT procedures.
- Manage Gordon Center website.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Advanced and hands-on knowledge of Linux operating system, including high-performance computing (HPC) solutions.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, networking, compliance, and cybersecurity.
- Strong experience in troubleshooting Linux operating system, hardware (including GPU), and application problems.
- Familiar with Linux scripting (e.g., bash).
- Capable of learning new technologies quickly.
- Previous experience in computer programming (Python, C/C , or Matlab) and AI is a plus and can enable professional growth through collaborations with investigators.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Specifying and ordering computer equipment, service, and software licenses.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Typically works with computers in an office environment. Work is generally non-hazardous.
Occasional exposure to other hazardous conditions, such as: lifting or moving heavy objects, stringing cables in ceilings, working with electrical equipment. Occasionally works in areas where radiation is used, but typically does not get radiation exposure. Occasionally works in clinical treatment areas.
EDUCATION:
Requires minimum of a bachelor's degree, master's degree preferred. Bachelor or Master's Degree in a scientific or technical field, preferably Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires 2 years of experience in managing Linux clusters.
