The DBA will be responsible for leading the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical systems

They will provide comprehensive consultation to business unit and IT management and staff at the highest technical level in the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of efficient and secure databases. Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost-effective database solution for the systems design. Develop standards and procedures affecting database management, design, and maintenance. Establish and maintain databases for user tests and production purposes. Train user groups on procedures and standards. Provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new database alternatives that assist the functional business units in meeting their strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will provide critical database administration, database management, database optimization, scripting, troubleshooting, and patching. A successful candidate must be able to work independently and with management on highly visible and complex projects. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Team

The team is made up of over 130 people across multiple countries. The team supports all the hardware in two data centers. We are responsible for Windows and Unix Operating systems, multiple different data bases, storage, back up and mainframe jobs. We work on the Scrum Agile methodology.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and other technical leads to develop the Database strategy, roadmap, standards, and patterns.
  • Lead technical evaluations of Database technology
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide SME level support for critical production systems.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies throughout the technical domain

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years Database Administration experience required
  • 5 years experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure)
  • Expertise level knowledge of AWS RDS(Aurora, MS SQL)
  • Knowledge in 2 of the 4 databases; MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or DB2
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • 5 years of experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options
  • Experience working with multiple operating system servers (Windows, UNIX)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to organize and plan work independently
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task and context-switch effectively between different activities and teams
  • Mentoring resources to transfer knowledge and ensure operational excellence.

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 10 years Database Administration experience required
  • 10 years’ experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Expert knowledge of cloud computing (AWS, Azure)
  • Database Specific Cloud Certifications
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum Methodology
  • Expertise level knowledge of AWS RDS (Aurora, MS SQL)
  • Knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models (Cohesity)
  • 10 years of experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options
  • Experience working with multiple operating system servers (Windows, UNIX)
  • Excellent technical documentation
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information at all levels.
  • Ability to collaborate, mentor other to organize, plan and execute work
