The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing a business unit in the construction of telecommunications infrastructure and buried and aerial cable placement in order to meet customer expectations and designated timelines. Establishes clear and frequent channels of communication with the customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving. This position supports the Operations team and works with other team members, senior leadership, and personnel from all departments.
Essential Functions
- Candidate must have the ability to develop positive business relationships to diagnose and understand current and potential customer needs.
- Lead and direct business unit operations staff in the effective and safe execution of projects.
- Establishes clear and frequent channels of communication with the customers
- Manage team to meet budgets and schedules and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Generate and control revenues and costs in order to deliver a profit to MasTec, with ultimate P&L responsibility for the business unit.
- Make staffing decisions, train new employees, and develop employee performance.
- Prepare and present detailed construction cost estimates and documentation.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology, Engineering, or a related field of study. (or equivalent work history)
- 10 years of total relevant experience, including previous supervisory experience.
- Experience managing divisional or department budget.
- Experience managing projects to completion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and upper management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 or more years managing operations related to underground cable/conduit placement and/or aerial cable placement.

This job operates both in the field and in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
