What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Equipment Operator position at MasTec Services Company Inc?
SUMMARY:
Operates heavy & light construction equipment, including backhoes, dozer, cable plow, front-end loaders, air compressors, trenchers, hydraulic reel trailers & other types of machinery & assures maintenance of these as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Traffic Control set up & tear down
- Ability to drive trucks & equipment to job sites
- Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position
- Maintains company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles or equipment in the care, custody or control.
- Report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors, corporate and assist in the investigation of same.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- 2 years of experience in utility construction preferred
- Possess general knowledge of construction practices.
- Knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints a plus.
- Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather (i.e. snow, rain, wind, etc.) and work overtime as required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Possess a valid CDL (A) license or be able to attain one.
- Pre-employment drug screen/criminal background test is mandatory
- Will be required to complete OSHA 10 hour course provided by MasTec.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level or working in confined spaces
