Description
The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have the strong ability to lead the team, have a passion for continual learning and growth, and have strong collaboration skills.
The Controller’s main responsibilities will be to:
- Manage and maintain company-wide accounting/business systems and processes to ensure all accounting transactions are accurate and timely
- Establish and enforce effective accounting policies to guide Johnson RV to business growth
- Issue monthly financial statements and ensure the filing of annual tax reports as well as providing the outside CPA with year-end documents necessary for corporate tax preparation
- Calculate sales commissions and bonuses for monthly payroll
- Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Review customer contracts, work with customer on contract negotiations.
- Provide daily easy-to-interpret financial/sales reports to managers and guide managers to make informed business decisions
- Managing Accounting department and its incumbents
- Budgeting and forecasting for financial and operational performance
- Liaison between bank, liability insurance companies, and external CPA
- Provides direction to outsourced IT Company for internal requests and needs
- Acts as gatekeeper of IT and our dealer management system
- Interface with all project costs centers and subsidiaries to ensure administrative requirements are met.
- Provide support for other departments and projects to assist in their administrative needs.
- Oversee the preparation of required Federal and State financial and payroll reports.

Participate as a member of the corporate Planning Team and provide financial data and analysis as required.
- Recommend policies and procedures relating to the financial and business practices of the company. In order to protect assets and limit exposure.
- Identify outdated accounting procedures and workflow issues; recommends appropriate solutions and be proactive in providing solutions to improve workflow processes etc.
- Manage the company s cash position to minimize the cost of borrowing through maintenance of strong banking relationships and strong cash management techniques, and to maximize interest-bearing or investment opportunities with available cash assets.
- Interface with project teams and operations leadership staff to ensure that financial requirements are understood followed and achieved.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's and President's direction.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree required in accounting or finance
- 10 years of related experience required (5 years accounting, 5 years Controller), preferably in retail/commission environment
- Ability to quickly learn the details of our industry specific accounting needs
- Proven experience in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and inventory valuation with proven track record of accurate and timely financial reporting
- Exceptional written and oral communication
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven success in managing and growing an accounting team
- Advanced Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs including excel and experience with accounting software
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
- CPA is a plus
- Experience working in accounting for a dealership (RV or automotive) is a plus
