Material Bank is seeking a Material Handler to ensure safe and timely receipt and delivery of materials, employing the highest industry safety standards.
Providing a skillset of receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping of inventoried goods as they pass through our distribution center. The incumbent will maximize efficiency, paying careful attention to detail, ensuring the proper start and/or completion of every order. Must be willing to work non-standard hours, read, count accurately, do simple math, and write legibly. The ability to follow instructions is critical. As a material handler, you will become an integral part of company operations and strengthen our business' efficiency, timeliness, and commitment to service by supporting and working closely with Material Bank's leadership team.
The Material Handler is responsible for accurately storing, receiving, shipping, material handling and physical inventory of products to meet our company standards of safety, security and productivity. The mission of the Material Handler is to support the business unit to service its customers in an efficient and timely manner. The ability to serve our customers with an accurate, on time order is critical to the success of Material Bank.
What you'll do:
- Receive, confirm, track, store, dispatch, replenish and deliver material.
- Lift and unload heavy pallets or materials, both by hand and by machine, and safely relocate them elsewhere in the HUB or prepare them for transport to our clients.
- Work around moving machines like order pickers, forklifts, mobile carts, and robots.
- Maintain a safe work environment and a trained workforce, committed to the best practices in the industry.
- Utilize scanners to scan bar codes on products.
- Perform quality inspections of materials, ensuring that the delivery is completed as requested and that the order meets company and industry standards.
- Keep your work area organized and tidy while adhering to general housekeeping practices to maintain workplace cleanliness.
- Fill out inventory lists, receive inventory, put away inventory, crosscheck shipping invoices and maintain accurate delivery log records.
- Pick, Pack or unpack items to be stocked on shelving or shipped to our clients.
- Receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using computer.
- Mark items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
- Provide aid or direction regarding delivery status, order changes and confirmations as well as other general logistical inquiries.
What you'll bring:
- High school, GED degree or equivalent diploma.
- Must be able to understand and adhere to all safety requirements.
- Must be able to work overtime as required by the business needs.
- Ability to work long hours that sometimes change according to business needs.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions.
- Experience in forklift, pallet jack and other heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk continuously and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to work in an environment with constant change.
- Upbeat attitude and the ability to push through obstacles.
- Persistent and proactive with a do-what-it-takes mentality to achieve outcomes.
- Deadline-driven while also flexible enough to adjust to new opportunities as they arise.
- Skills in basic computer software, such as MS Word, Excel, etc.
- Basic math, writing and oral communication abilities.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually required to stand, walk, sit, utilize hand, and finger dexterity.
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually to utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read information and/or use a keyboard.
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually required to lift/push/carry items less than 25 pounds/ up to 25 pounds/ up to 50 pounds/ more than 50 pounds.
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually work near moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally/Frequently/Continually work in high, precarious places.
