Material Transport headquartered in Sacramento, CA, transports building materials for the Pacific Coast Building Products family of companies and for other businesses requiring excellent service and reliability in the transportation of goods.
Our Sacramento, CA office is seeking applicants for the Dispatcher position. Under the supervision of the Transportation Coordinator, this position takes transportation orders, directs drivers and performs other related duties as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Fills freight orders obtained through various means including SAP dispatch module, phone, e-mail and fax
- Assigns loads to and communicates with drivers and sub-haulers
- Utilizes logistically efficient means of assigning loads to maximize revenue and minimize dead miles
- Matches and verifies all pickups and deliveries
- Assists Transportation Coordinator in seeking new customers and obtaining loads / backhauls
- Computer skills a must- Utilize Transportation Management software to utilize all trucks
- Manage drivers through geo-tab/review daily logs for discrepancies
- Multi-tasking in an ever changing environment
- Answer telephones and responds to customer inquiries
- Attends office safety and staff meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
- All other duties and responsibilites assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High school education or equivalent
- Requires working knowledge of trucking, transportation and customer service
- Requires good reading, writing and math skills
- Ability to operate personal computer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and any other office equipment required to perform duties.
- Regular attendance is required
Physical demands : Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, stooping, kneeling, reaching with hands and arms. Lifting up to 50 pounds.
