POSITION SUMMARY
Perform inspection of materials, physical and mechanical testing of products, metallographic and image analysis, and other related quality control activities or projects as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Log jobs and performs duties as defined (FIFO) unless otherwise directed. Coordinate sample preparation, perform and monitor chemical analysis and testing of products – ICP, LECO, GDMS and other testing as required. Prepare reports and notify supervisor of results.
- Work from industry and customer specification, manuals, sales orders, purchase and work orders, internal work instructions, and other written and verbal instructions.
- Sample, inspect, evaluate and disposition raw materials, including the coordination of outsourced testing as required. Document results and archive samples including internal testing as per Company retention requirements.
- Data entry, results recording, maintaining quality data bases. Analyze data as directed (IE Trend Analysis, SPC, etc.)
- Complies with all HES requirements.
- Capability to interact with other software programs as required/trained. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with ability to adjust workload based upon changing priorities. Self-motivated.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years related experience or an associate degree in a technical field with 3 years related experience is required.
- 2-4 years’ experience with laboratory testing, with knowledge of operations and methods.
- Related experience is most desirably analytical chemical analysis experience. However, chemical manufacturing experience, including weighing, mixing, sampling, and packaging processes will be considered. Demonstrated ability to work safely with hazardous materials is required.
- Good working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint Ability to communicate proficiently both orally and in writing using the English language.
- Maintain regular, prompt and reliable attendance to ensure that the manufacturing of products is not jeopardized.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Position requires direct contact on the manufacturing floor and requires ambulation
- Work time is spent in a factory environment where temperatures fluctuate Moderate lifting and exertion is required.
