We are seeking a dynamic, tech enthusiast, and self-starting individual to join the business strategy group in our Princeton, NJ, Ann Arbor, MI,orWashington, DC offices for a paid summer internship. In this role, you will help Mathematica expand business development opportunities beyond the organization’s existing portfolio of projects.

As a Business Development Intern you will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage in proactive business development by interfacing with leading health and technology companies, federal and state government policy makers, and major foundations and philanthropic donors.
  • Conduct active outreach to potential partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on business development materials such as prices sheets and marketing materials.
  • Utilize principles of social science research methods to design innovative studies which leverage technology.
  • Participate in meetings with senior management and leading scholars in the social policy research field. Serve as a liaison between project teams and technical IT staff.
  • Work with project teams to develop written business and functional requirements.
  • Support project delivery and success through project management activities.

Responsibilities for Business Development Intern include:

  • Assisting with contact database maintenance
  • Drafting correspondence, assembling presentation materials, recording notes for meetings, and documenting findings in One Note or other collaboration tools
  • Conducting independent research on topics related to strategic goals including new technologies, tracking congressional bills, venture firms with health and fitness portfolios, and advents in social policy and behavioral research regarding concussions, telemedicine, and wearables.
  • Gathering, documenting and sharing written business and functional requirements, and also providing project management support functions using Microsoft Project, Jira, and Confluence.

Position Requirements:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate or master’s-level training program in business, social science, IT or related field. (If in an undergraduate program, must be entering junior or senior year of program)
  • Exposure to social science research methods and design and a passion for technology
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Awareness of current trends in mobile, AI, wearables, and or telemedicine is a plus

  • Be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and eager to develop novel markets
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to engage teams and clients
  • Have a deep interest in using technology to address problems and a passion for social research and public well-being
