We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist/Geologist to perform environmental field investigations in the NYC metropolitan area and assist the Project Team in the preparation of technical reports in our NYC office. The individual will also be involved in other project-related tasks associated with hazardous/non-hazardous waste site investigation, remediation and other physical or natural-science based project work. The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist environmental staff with all aspects of site investigation and remediation, from workplans to final remedial documents
- Conduct field work to investigate the nature and extent of contaminated soil, sediment, groundwater and other media. While the candidate will work under the direction of a senior scientist, should be able to perform field work independently
- Field work will include oversight of subcontractors, including drillers and laboratories during soil boring advancement and monitoring well installation, and sampling various media including soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor and air
- Conduct municipal, state and federal file reviews to assist in the compilation of data and information for the property investigation or remediation of projects
- Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527
- Assist Environmental staff with report preparation to include reviewing laboratory analytical data, interpreting, and tabulating data and preparing tables, soil boring logs, figures and text
Requirements:
- BS in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry or one of the physical/natural sciences
- 2-5 years of environmental consulting experience
- Experience performing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling
- Working knowledge of NYSDEC Rules, Regulations and Guidance documents including DER-10, Part 360, and Part 375 Regulations
- Working knowledge of CEQR preferred
- Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, and research and documentation
- OSHA 40-Hour Training and 8-hour refresher
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, and be willing to travel and conduct field work in all boroughs of NYC, Westchester and Long Island
- Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently
- Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills
- Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
- Must be able to wear a respirator
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT regulated random drug testing

Annual Salary Range: $65,000 - $72,000
